What is Cryotherapy ?

What Is WBC ?

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) involves enclosing the body in a chamber, in which said chamber emits nitrogen vapor that reaches sub-zero temperatures ranging from -110 ℃ to -160 ℃. The body ends up exposed to the vapor for a short period of time, usually ranging from 2 to 4 minutes

Through exposing the epidermis to sub-zero temperatures, the WBC process reduces stress and allows the body to rejuvenate and heal the muscles after extensive exercise as well as reliving pain and acting as a stimulant for both the individual’s immune system and metabolism.

Health Benefits of Cryotherapy

Muscle recovery and healing

The procedure relaxes the muscles and boosts healing and injury recovering processes within your body and restores the body’s natural balance.

Reduces Inflammation

By relaxing and cooling the muscles, the blood flow rate to specific areas of the body decreases therefore reducing inflammation and swelling accumulated from injuries.

Rheumatic Diseases

Since that the procedure boosts the body’s immune system, it has been proven to help with rheumatic diseases that affect joints.

Reduces Pain

By reducing inflammation and blood flow to specific areas of the body, WBC has been proven to soothe pain especially in joints.

Boosts the Immune System

by decreasing the overall cortisol levels that affect the immune system negatively, cryotherapy boosts immune system and the production of white blood cells.

Reduces Anxiety and Depression

Exposure to sub-zero tempretures causes the body to produce more endorphins and noradrenaline that have a positive effect on one’s mental wellbeing especially anxiety and depression.

KRION for athletes

WBC on game day

The WBC procedure should be carried out after extensive exercise or 6 hours before the game for optimal since that the procedure averages out all bodily functions and processes such as an athlete’s outstanding abilities for a period of 2 to 4 hours. The optimal time between sessions should be 6 hours for maximum effect.

WBC throughout training

Since that the WBC procedure helps prepare the body for exercise as well as boosting muscle recovery and healing capabilities, it’s advised to do the procedure right before and right after the training process for best possible effect. Follow ups also reduce the individual lactic acid levels to pre-training levels that helps with muscle fatigue. The optimal schedule for cryotherapy is a session each at 8.00, 14.00, 20.00.

WBC during rehabilitation

The WBC procedure helps the body recover from injuries as well as reliving pain and reducing both inflammation and swelling. after a course of cryotherapy which usually ranges from 5 to 10 sessions, induvial and athletes report that cryotherapy has had an immense effect on their recovery as well as maintain their wellbeing.
